A few weeks ago, in the beginning of the process of moving into a new home with my family, I stumbled upon
my grandfather's journals. While I could not read it in Urdu, my brother gratefully did and I tried translating a snippet
of my grandfather's story. Although the translation is not perfect, I made this website to not only visualize what
I learned but also to show a bit of the history of the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, which is what
my grandfather's story is centered around.
While roaming through this site, in the Partition page, there is a tiny explanation of the Partition alongside pieces of art by artists that visualize the historical year.
On the Journey page, there are train stations that my grandfather traveled through on the train from India to Pakistan.
Then, on the p5 Sketch page, there is a sketch that I made in a way to visualize my grandfather's journey a bit better. This sketch was done through the p5 library and the map that was drawn is from the Mappa Libray.
Lastly, on the About page, there are some photos of my grandfather along with a tiny bio about his life.
